new moon in Aquarius and solar eclipse today

Humankind is evolving in mind as well as in body. Indeed the body is a reflection of mind or consciousness.

As we enter the 2000-year span of the age of Aguarius, we find that the ground rules are subtly different from those of the preceding age, Pisces. Many changes since the turn of the century in 1900 indicate greater emphasis on a scientific approach to life, choosing a way of life that is more suited to one's personal needs, and redefining roles, such as god-self, man-woman, parent-child, society-individual, and so on.

New Moon @ 17° Aquarius 44′

Here are two charts for the new Moon on 07 February 2008, 3:45 AM (GMT). I'm also including a small table showing Pluto's wanderings in and out of Capricorn this year.

What the real astrologers have to say...
Taking a look at what other astrologers have to say about this new Moon:

Jeff Jawer at stariq.com in his New Moon report:

The innovative New Moon in Aquarius brings fresh ideas reminding us that we belong to a global community. Initiating friendships and group projects is a natural inclination now, but letting go of individuals and expectations may come first. That's because this Sun-Moon conjunction is a Solar Eclipse that draws the curtain on outdated ideals and illusions. Dreamy Neptune, mental Mercury and compassionate Chiron are closely conjunct this lunation, making it a rich moment to change your intellectual scenery and alter your place in the community. Release those people and causes that are more mouth than movement, and withdraw from organizations where you find yourself turning in circles. Newly direct Mars is harmoniously aligned with the Aquarian cluster opening fresh paths of inspiration and activity.

Lisa Dale Miller at astrowisdom posts about this new Moon:

This is the New Moon for radical change. Aquarius is often thought of as visionary: an energy that looks beyond the norm, questions accepted truths, boldly claims originality, flies in the face of reason; and flatly refuses to blindly follow the dictates of others. And oh, if you are like me, (always ready to dive into Aquarian energy) you will be very happy on this New Moon with its Chiron/Mercury/Sun/Moon/Neptune conjunction in utopian Aquarius. This will be our first New Moon with Pluto in Capricorn, joined by Venus and Jupiter in this most embodied and demanding of signs. The combination of these planets in Aquarius and Capricorn represent a mind-blowing head-to-head struggle between the energies of Saturn (reality) and Uranus (innovative vision). Add to this an energetic direct-moving Mars in Gemini trine Sun/Moon/Neptune in Aquarius and a slow, methodical retrograde Saturn in Virgo trine Pluto/Jupiter in Capricorn, and we've got a New Moon perfect for envisioning actual implementation of radical change.

The annular solar eclipse will add a bit of heightened energy to this New Moon. Partial phases of the eclipse will be visible primarily from eastern Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. For more information on the eclipse go to NASA's Eclipse homepage http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/OH/OH2008.html#2008Feb07A

Robert Ayres at Astrological Alchemy says about the new Moon and Eclipse:

This month the New Moon falls in Aquarius on February 6 and is a solar eclipse. During this phenomenon, which occurs about every six months, the Moon moves between the Sun and the Earth and creates a shadow known as the penumbra. The solar energy and consciousness is temporarily blocked. This is perceived, both scientifically and clairvoyantly, as a temporary suspension of the Sun's influence. This creates an opportunity for a subtle and profound energetic shift to take place. Eclipses always act as a cosmic exclamation point to the message of the stars. This eclipse is no exception...

Reach out beyond your comfort zone and break old self-imposed, limiting boundaries that hold you back from living life as it was designed to be lived. Reach out to your neighbor, community, and society and come together in fraternity and friendship. The deeper intent of Aquarius is to create an ideal society or heaven on Earth. But this can only happen as a result of each of us internalizing and living the Aquarian consciousness. This New Moon is seeding that intention. Embrace this opportunity and experience an improved quality of life.
